It's almost time for the Easter long weekend! Have you made any plans yet? Are you planning to entertain at home? Sharing a meal with loved ones is always special, and it becomes even more memorable when you take the time to set a beautiful table. With a little bit of thought and effort, you can create a festive and welcoming atmosphere that will make your guests feel special. This elevates the table setting from ordinary to extraordinary, and it instantly puts everyone in the mood to celebrate!

How do you dress a table for Easter?

Select a tablecloth, placemats or a runner that suits your theme – or you can use a mixture, layering placemats or a runner over a tablecloth. A crisp, white tablecloth is always a classic choice for formal meals, you can add a coloured runner or even our fabulous blue and white check paper runner for a touch of colour and fun!

Preparing for Easter Guests

It’s a good idea to tailor the decorations and the food that is appropriate for the age group of your guests, and also take into account any dietary requirements. The décor ideas for setting a brunch table may be more casual, however, if you are setting the table for an Easter dinner geared mainly toward adults, you can set a more formal table.

Colour Scheme

Select a colour scheme that brings you joy and repeat it on the table with napery, glassware, crockery, floral decorations and of course Easter décor and eggs!

TABLECLOTH OR TABLE RUNNER

After deciding on your colour scheme, the next step is to lay a tablecloth or table runner that complements your colour scheme. A table runner is a great alternative to a tablecloth on your table – they add colour and texture and are an easier option to make your life a little easier – there’s certainly less ironing! If you want to take it a step further – our fabulous paper table runner might be the perfect solution for a hassle-free, no-iron alternative.

To add an extra dimension to your table – you can try a layering technique – start with a tablecloth then add placemats or a table runner on top of it. This is a great way to mix colours and patterns in your chosen hues. Our specially designed Easter paper placemats are the perfect choice to add colour and patterns to your table settings, without a huge investment.

PLACE SETTINGS

Set each place at the table with a placemat, coordinating plates, napkins, and glasses. You can mix and match different patterns and colours to add visual interest but keep to the colour scheme. If you’re hosting a large group, or you’re giving each person a small, personalised gift, add a place card at each setting so people know exactly where they should be sitting.

HOW TO MAKE AN EASTER CENTREPIECE

A centrepiece serves as the focal point of your table but remember not to make the centrepiece too tall, so you can still talk to the people sitting opposite and don’t have to duck and weave to make conversation. A floral centrepiece always looks good, so include lilies which are traditional Easter flowers and then add others to reflect your colour scheme. You can add an Easter bunny (or two) amongst the foliage or down the centre of the table. Or you can fill a glass bowl or vase with coloured eggs. Who doesn’t want to receive an Easter egg – so sit one at each place setting.

A centrepiece may not be the best option if you are planning to serve shared plates on the table – opt for a decoration at each place setting instead.

TABLE DECORATIONS

Even if you’re not planning an Easter brunch, lunch or dinner– get the kids involved and set up some Easter table decorations to enjoy over the Easter weekend. Our bright and beautiful origami eggs and bunnies are always a big hit with the young ones or for something a bit more subdued, add some of our white resin bunnies - they’ll look perfect at Easter and they can easily find another home around the house until next Easter!

TABLEWARE

Keep the colour theme flowing with coloured plates and glasses or if a lot is going on with colour and patterns, use plain white tableware and clear glassware which always looks good. Add an Orwell Rabbit Terrine at each place setting – pop some chocolates inside and tie them with a ribbon and a gift card – what a charming keepsake that would be to receive.

CANDLES

If you’re planning an evening celebration – candles can really add to the festive ambience. Incorporate them into your centrepiece or add a small tealight at each place setting. Choose unscented candles, so the aroma doesn’t compete with the food you’re serving. If you have a lot of candlesticks – you could put different-sized easter eggs on them instead of candles – or do a mix of both for maximum impact.

FINISHING TOUCHES

As we always say, it’s the finishing touches – no matter how small - that can make the most impact on your table and tie everything together. Think of other ways to incorporate some extra Easter cheer into your table – our sweet Bunny Ear Napkin Rings look beautiful on linen napkins but work just as well with our printed paper serviettes.

For a cute touch, pop some small Dutch carrots, complete with stems on each napkin – they’re perfect for the Easter bunny!

Most importantly, make sure to showcase your creativity and personal style while gathering and displaying each element of your Easter table. Your Easter tablescape will reflect your love and warmth and add a touch of magic to your celebration, leaving a lasting impression on your guests.

Enjoy each of your meals with your beautiful table settings and have a very happy Easter.
