A stylish bed or bedhead is a great starting point for the perfect bedroom, and the mattress that suits it. Our in-house styling team has provided some handy tips and with four easy to follow steps so you can have the perfect Provincial bed. With four easy to follow steps, we’ll show you how to make the perfect bed.

Step 1 - Fitted Sheet

Always use a mattress topper/protector. Not only does it offer an extra layer of comfort and protect your mattress, but it gives a great shape to your bed. Then the fitted sheet goes on - ensure the sheet fits the corners of your mattress and is pulled flat and smooth. Tuck it under the mattress properly to hold it in place. What a great invention the fitted sheet is!

Step 2 - Flat Sheet

Next comes the flat sheet – and that seems to divide people – some love them others choose to go straight to the quilt, which is why we sell our fitted and flat sheets separately so you can choose to use one - or not.

Your flat sheet is a great way to add contrast, layers and interest to your bed. It could be a contrasting colour, or a pattern. Lay your flat sheet over your fitted sheet, making sure it is even on both sides and if patterned, with the finished side facing down. A handy tip, if it’s folded longways, you should have a fold in the middle which you can line up with the centre of the bed. Tuck the sheet under the end of the mattress first, then the sides (hospital corners are a sure way to keep it in place).

Step 3 - Quilt Cover

Use the quilt cover as the statement piece for your room. Invest in a few different quilt covers, it will set the tone for the entire bedroom and is easy to switch for a different look each time you change your bed. Have fun with colour, pattern and texture. Style your quilt in different ways to achieve your desired look. For example, fold it 1/3 of the way down to expose your flat sheet, or in Summer fold it across the bottom of the bed.

Step 4 - Pillows & Cushions

Complete the look with pillows and accent cushions, adding your own personal style. Match at least one set of pillows (the standard or Euro) with your quilt cover. Use a complementary colour palette to add a pop of personality, combine velvet and linen, stripes and patterns to complete the look.

Add extra colour and texture by adding a throw to the end of your bed.

There’s nothing nicer that getting into a freshly changed bed, reading a few pages of your latest novel, then sleeping like a baby!
